We will be staying at 4/5 star hotel in Kathmandu, and in Hotel / Guest House basis during the tour/trek in Tibet. All rooms are on twin-shared basis. Single bedroom will be arranged on request and will cost additional. Utmost Adventure will arrange rooms with attached washrooms in Tibet; however, guesthouse at some places and during Mount Kailash Kora only has shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and in Tibet regions during the driving tour.
Breakfast will be provided during the tour (On demand, we can arrange lunch, dinner during the driving tour). There will also be welcome and farewell dinners taking place for guests. While on tour, we have breakfast and dinner in the guest house/hotel where we spend the night and lunch on our way to next destination. Authentic Tibetan, continental meals are common choices in the menu Tibet.
Lhasa to Mount Kailash tour is an moderate tour. Travelers who can walk 5-6 hours a day on an uphill and downhill will consider this trip fulfilling and enjoyable. It is a good idea to prepare for the tour by jogging and exercising regularly at least for a month prior undertaking the trip. Touring in Tibet should be relatively easy for those who have experience in trekking in high altitudes. Determination, good physical health and positive attitude are good preconditions for a successful accomplishment of the trek. Past hiking experience in high altitude would definitely be an asset but no particular technical skills are required for this trip. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Utmost Adventure before booking the trek for their own safety reasons.

Today, morning we will ready after your breakfast to head on for our relaxing guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After your lunch at Bouddha visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple covering wide range of area with highest point of Kathmandu valley and enjoy the 360 degrees of valley view. After exploring the surrounding areas visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square which is old royal palace of Kathmandu and can be seen lot of temple, architectures and Kumari (living goddess) and walk in a freak street and late afternoon back to hotel and evening briefing about your trip, what is your responsibility, what to do and does not in the trek? Fly to Lhasa, about 1 hour flight offer panoramic Himalayan views including Mt. Everest. And other mountains ranges. Pick up from Gonggar airport, after finished immigration formalities it takes about 1 hour 30 minutes’ drive along 93 km road leading to Lhasa. It is advisable to rest in Hotel. Overnight in Lhasa.
Your tour starts visiting many historical place and monument. An experience tour guide will take you to visit to Sera Monastery, this preserved monastery of white washed wall and golden roofs. Norbulinka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lma, another important sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism the Jokhang Temple and the local market at Barkhor Street. Finally, the tour for the day ends as you return to the comforts of your hotel. Overnight in Lhasa.
Like the previous day, you experience invaluable insights during your visits to Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. This 17th century Potala Palace offers an awesome view of entire city and also has private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand state rooms and chapels. Ancient history has it that Drepung Monastery which was built in 14th century used to shelter around 10,000 monks but as now there has been quite a declination resulting in only few hundreds. Tibetans’ respect and belief are immensely knotted with this monastery. Overnight in Lhasa.
You will start your tour at around 9 am from your hotel and then drive towards Gyantse through 3 big mountain passes, Kampa La, Karo La, Simila respectively. Karola is the highest pass among them which is over 5000Mts with it’s most beautiful glaciers, beautiful Yamdrok lake emerged as coral color from the top of Kampala pass. You will have your lunch at Nakartse country which is just between the Yamdrok lake and Karola glaciers. Visit Gyantse in the afternoon.
Gyantse is a small agricultural town, famous for its wool carpets and the Phalkor Choide Chorten. Between a monastery and fort, this unique structure, built in 1414 consists of five stories representing the five steps to enlightenment, topped by thirteen rings, symbolizing the stages of advancement towards Buddhahood. There are 108 (a sacred number in Buddhism) halls inside, each with frescoes and Buddha Shrines, the frescoes showing a strong Indian influence. Before 1959 traders coming from Kalimpong and Gangtok (India) used to enter Tibet through Yandong and then to Gyantse, en route to Lhasa. Overnight in Gyantse.
Morning visit a Tibetan carpet factory in Gyantse to witness how the Tibetan Carpet is made of and then drive from Gyantse to Shigatse, visit Tashi Lhunpo monastery.
Tashilhunpo Monastery; it is the seat of the Panchen Lama, who is regarded as the reincarnation of the Buddha of Endless Enlightenment. Items of interest inside this monastery, built in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, are the relics of Sakyamuni, the Hall of Maitreya, and a vast collection of Thankas, frescoes and statues. There is a bustling ‘free’ market at the foot of the ruins of the Shigatse Fortress where, one can buy local handicrafts embedded with coral and turquoise, Tibetan daggers, Chinese porcelain and yak butter. Overnight in Shigatse.
After breakfast we continue our journey to Saga. Crossing over several mountain passes including Ngamring la 4650m, some beautiful villages on the way and holy river Bhramaputra before we get to Saga. The road condition is good and it will take you around 8 hrs approximately. Overnight in Saga.
We follow the road towards Kailash in breathtaking landscapes with some beautiful Tibetan nomad camps and many animals on the grass lands. Reaching Lake Mansarovar and Kailash, it is an amazing view of Mt. Kailash and Mansarovar lake when you see them from Chaktsalkang for the first time. You will feel extremely peaceful, calm, joyful and great when you see beautiful Lake Mansarovar and Mt Kailash right in front of you. Overnight in Chiu Gompa.
We take a Kora around the Manasarovar Lake which is a sacred circuit following the edge of the lake Manasarovar which displays brilliant color at the height of 4560m. After completing the kora, we head for Darchen which is located at the foot of the sacred Mt. Kailash. Overnight in Darchen.
After the breakfast, drive about 5 km to Tarboche, this is the starting point for our Kora, the 53km trek around the mountain to appreiciate its beautiful scenery, explore its historical sites and experience the mountain’s eligious significance. From Tarboche, we walk up the Lha Chu Valley through beautiful green meadows and streams with Mt Kailash towering above us. Overnight in Diraphuk.
We now leave the Lha Chu Valley and enter the Drolma Chu Valley, heading up towards a high pass, the Drolma La (5630m). It’s a tough climb to the summit which is festooned with prayer flags but from there it is all downhill or flat to Zutul-Puk. Overnight in Zuthul Puk.
After breakfast we walk about 10 km distance and end our Mt. Kaailash kora today. We take short drive to Darchen if we have any participants who couldn’t join us for Kailash kora. Our tour starts back following the same route to Dongba via Mansarovar Lake. On the way you will cross lake Mansarovar if someone wants to take holy water pick up that and drive continue. Overnight in Saga.
After breakfast our Kailash Mansarovar journey back to Kerung. We cross Brahmaputra River then continue to Saga. Final dinner in Tibet side cooked by our staff. Overnight in Kerung.
Morning a short drive about 26km to Kerung Border, Cross Friendship border and drive to Kathmandu into the green scenery to Langtang National Park continue drive to Kathmandu for about 7.00 hrs. Overnight in hotel.
Transfer to airport for final departure to onward destination.
