Pikey is located in Solu Region with excellent views of high mountains. The name Pikey comes from the two titles of the Sherpas. The month of July is a time of great celebration as the locals worship their clan god, the eastern Chyabo Pikey, as Pikey hlapchen Karbu in the celebration. This trek is newly found as a trekking route. The trail passes through beautiful Sherpa village; you can visit the ancient Buddhist Monastery of Thupten Chholing and enjoy the unique Sherpa culture. It is popular for sunrise and sunset views and offers the spectacular mountains view including Mt. Everest, Thamserku, Number Chuli, Khangtega, Khatang, Kanchenjunga to the east, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang himalaya. The trek can be done 3-4 days but 6 days allows exploring more villages, monasteries and physical workout without stress.

Welcome to Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan intl. airport our representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu (1,400m). After time to get refreshed, evening you will meet and transfer for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu and after meal briefing about your trip. Today, morning we will ready after your breakfast to head on for our relaxing guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After your lunch at Bouddha visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple covering wide range of area with highest point of Kathmandu valley and enjoy the 360 degrees of valley view. After exploring the surrounding areas visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square which is old royal palace of Kathmandu and can be seen lot of temple, architectures and Kumari (living goddess) and walk in a freak street and late afternoon back to hotel and evening briefing about your trip, what is your responsibility, what to do and does not in the trek? ourney starts early morning leaving Kathmandu valley to Dhap Bazzar by private 4 W Jeep which takes approximately 7 hours driving along the Sun Koshi River. After lunch at Ghurmi drive goes uphill through sup-tropical forest of Pine to dense forest of Rhododendron passing beautiful landscapes and villages to Dhap. Overnight in Dhap Bazzar.

After the breakfast, we walk to Jhapre which takes approx. 4 hours. Walking on dusty road head until reaching Sigane in about 3 hours, after Lunch at Sigane we continue couple of hours to Jhapre. Jhapre offers nice views of high Himalayan range including Mount Everest and the Number Himal. Overnight in Jhapre.

Enjoy early morning amazing mountain views. After the breakfast, trek starts short dirt road and climbing uphill through the Pine and Rhodondendron forest until reaching Bhulbhule (3210m) in about 2 hours, in the spring season (March, April, May), you will enjoy with different spices of Rhododendron flowers during the walk and spectacular high Himalayan range. After short rest at Bhulbhule the trail continues gentle climbing to arrive in Lhamuje (3328m) which takes about an hour. We stop for Lunch at Lamuje, trail stays gentle ups and down for a while, we pass through Yak pasture land so you will see many yaks grazing in this area. After passing long Mani Wall trails start climbing steep to arrive Pikey Base Camp. Overnight in Pikey Base Camp.

arly morning we climb steep uphill until reaching Pikey Peak which takes about an hour. It offers amazing sunrise view over the Himalayas and the spectacular mountains view including Mt. Everest, Thamserku, Number Chuli, Khangtega, Khatang, Kanchenjunga to the east, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang himalaya. Then trek start downhill through the Pine and Rhododendron forest with amazing mountain views to the Jase Bhanjyang, it continues ups and down on the ridge to arrive Lamjura (3525m) where we stop for Lunch. Another 2 and half hours walk first it goes long descent to the vally through fir and Rhodondendron forest until Taktor and easy walk to Junbesi (2680m). Overnight in Junbensi.

Morning after breakfast, we take day hike to Thupten Chholing Gompa (2920m) for round trip 3/4 hours. The trail goes along Junbesi Khola with gentle climbing up hill. It was founded in 19th Century and practiced by Tibetan Buddhism. You may enjoy the meditation with local nuns and monks in the Monastery and explore the village. Overnight in Junbeshi.

After the breakfast, we walk on the dirt road along the Junbensi Khola via Benighat until reaching Bhagbani takes about 2 hours. We stop for short snakes here and walk uphill to Phaplu which take about one hour. We spent night here to catch our flight to Kathmandu next morning. (Trekkers or local peoples spent night here to take early morning bus / jeep to Kathmandu which takes about 9 hours’ drive). Overnight in Phaplu.

What to Expect

Accommodation

We will be staying at 2/3 star hotel in Kathmandu, and in tea-houses during the trek. All rooms are on twin-shared basis. Single bedroom will be arranged on request and will cost additional. Utmost Adventure will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, tea-houses at some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and in trekking regions might be difficult to find them at higher altitude.

Meals

All meals will be provided during trekking (On demand, we can arrange only breakfast during the trek and trekkers can order lunch and dinner individually from the tea-house menu). In Kathmandu, breakfast will be available. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners taking place for guests. While on trek, we have breakfast and dinner in the tea-houses/lodges where we spend the night and lunch on our way to next destination. Authentic Nepalese, Sherpa, continental meals and Indian cuisine are common choices in the menu.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

Pikey Trek is a moderate trek. Travelers who can walk up to 5-6 hours a day on an uphill and downhill trail will consider this trip fulfilling and enjoyable. It is a good idea to prepare for the trek by jogging and exercising regularly at least for a month prior to the start. Trekking to the Pikey should be relatively easy for those who have experience in walking/trekking in high altitudes. Determination, good physical health, positive attitude and average physical fitness are good preconditions for a successful accomplishment of the trek. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Utmost Adventure Trekking before booking the trek.

Best Time to Travel

The best time for trekking to Pikey Trek is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). The temperature is moderate and guarantees amazing views throughout the trip. Although this trek can be undertaken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.
