Trip Introduction

Mount Kailash Tour, this tour gives you an opportunity to make the “Ultimate Pilgrimage” to holy Kailash and Manasarovar. Starting from Kathmandu in Nepal the tour includes traveling overland to the sacred Manasarovar Lake and Mount Kailash. You will have chance to camp by the ethereal water of the holy lake and to take part in 3-days kora trek around Mt. Kailash as a highlight of this spiritual journey to a holy and beautiful land.

Rigorous overland driving, trekking and camping through the remote and wild western Tibet, in altitudes between 2,745m/ 9,000ft and 4,880m/ 16,000ft and hiking to a maximum elevation of 5600m/18,400ft. A Nepalese Sherpa team that includes a camp cook who will prepare all meals will support this tour. All camping equipment will be provided and will be led by a Nepalese guide. While trekking, clients carry a small day pack only and hike at easy pace. All equipment and luggage will be carried by porters/pack-animals.

Accommodation

We will be staying at 2/3 star hotel in Kathmandu, and in tea-houses during the trek. All rooms are on twin-shared basis. Single bedroom will be arranged on request and will cost additional. Utmost Adventure will arrange rooms with attached washrooms in Tibet; however, guesthouse at some places only has shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and in Tibet regions during the driving tour.

Meals

Breakfast will be provided during the tour (On demand, we can arrange lunch, dinner during the driving tour). There will also be welcome and farewell dinners taking place for guests. While on tour, we have breakfast and dinner in the guest house/hotel where we spend the night and lunch on our way to next destination. Authentic Tibetan, continental meals are common choices in the menu Tibet.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

Mount Kailash tour is an moderate tour. Travelers who can walk 5-6 hours a day on an uphill and downhill will consider this trip fulfilling and enjoyable. It is a good idea to prepare for the tour by jogging and exercising regularly at least for a month prior undertaking the trip. Touring in Tibet should be relatively easy for those who have experience in trekking in high altitudes. Determination, good physical health and positive attitude are good preconditions for a successful accomplishment of the trek. Past hiking experience in high altitude would definitely be an asset but no particular technical skills are required for this trip. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Utmost Adventure before booking the trek for their own safety reasons.

Best Time to Travel

The best time for Mount Kailash tour is during Spring, Summer (April to September) and The temperature is moderate and guarantees amazing views throughout the trip.

Trip Itinerary

Welcome to Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan intl. airport our representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu (1,300m). After time to get refreshed, evening you will meet and transfer for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu and after meal briefing about your trip and overnight at Hotel.

Today, morning we will ready after your breakfast to head on for our relaxing guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After your lunch at Bouddha visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple covering wide range of area with highest point of Kathmandu valley and enjoy the 360 degrees of valley view. After exploring the surrounding areas visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square which is old royal palace of Kathmandu and can be seen lot of temple, architectures and Kumari (living goddess) and walk in a freak street and late afternoon back to hotel and evening briefing about your trip, what is your responsibility, what to do and does not in the trek? Introduce with our fellow trekking staff and chances to ask remaining question and simply relax at the hotel.

After the breakfast we drive to Syabrubensi. Passing the Kathmandu valley, the roads twist and turn along the high hills through remote villages. When you reach the village of Ranipauwa, there is a fine view of the Annapurna Mountain range in the west and Langtang Mountain range in the east. Following plain land to Trishuli bazzar, than touring over rough roads, guides you into the Langtang National Park where you will notice the remoteness of the human settlement at higher altitude. Overnight in Syabrubensi.

We begin our drive to Kerung very early in the morning. We need to drive one hour to reach to Rasuwagadi. After processing of immigration formalities of both countries of Nepal and China border, you will be transferred from mini-coach to Kerung which is 23 km from the border. Overnight stay in Kerung.

After breakfast we will take a small walk around Kerung village. Spending an extra day in Kerung will help us acclimatize to the high altitude, thus preparing us for the journey ahead. Overnight in Kerung.

After breakfast we continue our journey to Saga. We will cross the high pass of Lalung La Pass (5000m) where a magnificent view of high Himalayas can be seen such as Gaurishanker, Shishapangma, and Langtang Himal. Enjoy the view of snowcapped mountains, we will be crossing the holy river Bhramaputra before we get to Saga. Overnight in Saga.

Today is the most auspicious day for all of us as we will see the first glimpse of holy Kailash and sacred Lake Mansarovar. A lifetime achievement, here we will perform a holy dip, Relax and explore around the Mansarovar area. Overnight in Manasarovar.

We take a Kora around the Manasarovar Lake which is a sacred circuit following the edge of the lake Manasarovar which displays brilliant color at the height of 4560m. After completing the kora, we head for Darchen which is located at the foot of the sacred Mt. Kailash. Overnight in Darchen.

After the breakfast, drive about 5 km to Tarboche, this is the starting point for our Kora, the 53km trek around the mountain to appreiciate its beautiful scenery, explore its historical sites and experience the mountain’s eligious significance. From Tarboche, we walk up the Lha Chu Valley through beautiful green meadows and streams with Mt Kailash towering above us. Overnight in Diraphuk.

We now leave the Lha Chu Valley and enter the Drolma Chu Valley, heading up towards a high pass, the Drolma La (5630m). It’s a tough climb to the summit which is festooned with prayer flags but from there it is all downhill or flat to Zutul-Puk. Overnight in Zuthul Puk.

After breakfast we walk about 10 km distance and end our Mt. Kaailash kora today. We take short drive to Darchen if we have any participants who couldn’t join us for Kailash kora. Our tour starts back following the same route to Dongba via Mansarovar Lake. On the way you will cross lake Mansarovar if someone wants to take holy water pick up that and drive continue. Overnight in Saga.

After breakfast our Kailash Mansarovar journey back to Kerung. We cross Brahmaputra River then continue to Saga. Final dinner in Tibet side cooked by our staff. Overnight in Kerung.

Morning a short drive about 26km to Kerung Border, Cross Friendship border and drive to Kathmandu into the green scenery to Langtang National Park continue drive to Kathmandu for about 7.00 hrs. Overnight in hotel.

Utmost Adventure has compiled a list of necessary equipment, personal medical supplies and symptoms of medical condition likely to face during trekking / peak climbing. Also, please do understand that items listed below should be considered as an essential summary.
We highly recommend you to be familiar with all of your equipment and basic understanding of medical Conditions related to high elevation.
