Tibet Everest Base Camp Tour (14 Days)


Tibet 'the Roof of the world', Tibet is the highest plateau in the world with an average altitude in excess of 3500 meter. Lying to the north of the great Himalayan range which separates it from its neighbors India, Nepal and Bhutan, Tibet is an untamed land of nomads (Drokpas), monasteries, yaks, sand dunes, and high altitude desert.
On this Tibet overland tour you have three days (i.e 4 nights) in Lhasa to acclimatize and to absorb the exoticism of the Tibetan heritages and to explore this history-laden city. You will be expertly guided around the most significant and ancient Gompas (monasteries) of Lhasa, Gyantse & Shigatse by your Tibetan guide, who will instruct you on the intricacies of Tibetan Buddhism. With its spectacular mountain scenery and rich Buddhist culture, Tibet is a remarkable place to visit.

Oct 14 (Day 01): Kathmandu (1400m)
Arrival Kathmandu transfer to the hotel. Short briefings about the tour. Overnight at hotel.

Oct 15 (Day 02): Kathmandu (1400m)
Kathmandu is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The city presents a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in the Valley. There will be a half day guided tour to UNESCO World Heritage Site kathmandu Durbar Square, the famous and biggest Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath & the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal Boudhanath. Overnight at hotel.


Oct 16 (Day 03): Kathmandu - Lhasa (3660m)
Fly to Lhasa, about 1 hour flight offer panoramic Himalayan views including Mt. Everest. And other mountains ranges. Pick up from Gonggar airport, after finished immigration formalities it takes about 1 hour 30 minutes drive along 93 km road leading to Lhasa. It is advisable to rest in Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Oct 17 (Day 04): Lhasa sightseeing tour
Your tour starts visiting many historical place and monument. An experience tour guide will take you to visit to Sera Monastery, this preserved monastery of white washed wall and golden roofs. Norbulinka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lma, another important sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism the Jokhang Temple and the local market at Barkhor Street. Finally, the tour for the day ends as you return to the comforts of your hotel.

Oct 18 (Day 05): Lhasa Sightseeing tour
Like the previous day, you experience invaluable insights during your visits to Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. This 17th century Potala Palace offers an awesome view of entire city and also has private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand state rooms and chapels. Ancient history has it that Drepung Monastery which was built in 14th century used to shelter around 10,000 monks but as now there has been quite a declination resulting in only few hundreds. Tibetans' respect and belief are immensely knotted with this monastery.

Oct 19 (Day 06): Drive to Gyantse (93km) 3950m.
Gyantse is a small agricultural town, famous for its wool carpets and the Phalkor Choide Chorten. Between a monastery and fort, this unique structure, built in 1414 consists of five stories representing the five steps to enlightenment, topped by thirteen rings, symbolizing the stages of advancement towards Buddhahood. There are 108 (a sacred number in Buddhism) halls inside, each with frescoes and Buddha Shrines, the frescoes showing a strong Indian influence. Before 1959 traders coming from Kalimpong and Gangtok ( India ) used to enter Tibet through Yandong and then to Gyantse, en route to Lhasa .
 
Oct 20 (Day 07): Drive to Shigatse (245km) 3900m.
After breakfast visit to famous Tashilumpo Monastery and the seat of Panchen Lama visit Tashilunpo Monastery. Shigatse is famous for its Tashilhunpo Monastery; it is the seat of the Panchen Lama, who is regarded as the reincarnation of the Buddha of Endless Enlightenment. Items of interest inside this monastery, built in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, are the relics of Sakyamuni, the Hall of Maitreya, and a vast collection of Thankas, frescoes and statues. There is a bustling ‘free’ market at the foot of the ruins of the Shigatse Fortress where, one can buy local handicrafts embedded with coral and turquoise, Tibetan daggers, Chinese porcelain and yak butter. Oct 21 (Day 08): Shigatse to Shegar (New Tingri) (4050m)-244 km
Today we restart the journey following the Friendship Highway , through spectacular landscape of Tibet, crossing the highest pass on our journey, the Gyamtso La (5220m). Then we continue towards the plains passing lonely monasteries and the camps of nomadic herders, en route to Shegar. Overnight at Guest house.
 
Oct 22 (Day 09): Shegar to Rongbuk (5000m)-65 km
As we leave Shigatse, we turn off the Friendship Highway and head south over the Pang La (5150m) towards the main Himalayan range that give magnificent view stretching from Makalu to Shishapangma. Below the pass, as we turn the corner into the Rongbuk Valley , we can watch the charming view of Everest than ever. Overnight at Guesthouse,
 
Oct 23 (Day 10): Rongbuk to Tingri (4390m)-65 km)
In the morning hiking to Everest Base Camp and back to Rongbuk (5000m.) and drive back to Old Tingri (4390m.) - 75 KM. Overnight at Guest house.
 
Oct 24 (Day 11): Drive Old Tingri (4390m.) – Nyalam or Zhangmu (2300m.) - 181 k.m.
Drive to Zhangmu (219km) (2300m): Zhangmu is a small settlement clinging to a hillside. Across the Bhotekoshi river. Since the closure of the China / India border from Gangtok, Zhangmu has become the major trading point between Tibet and Nepal . The climate is quite different from the hinterland. The hills around Zhangmu are heavily wooded with many waterfalls in summer and impressive ice formations in winter. Overnight at Guest house.
 
Oct 25 (Day 12): Zhangmu to Kathmandu
Leaving Zhangmu, we join the Friendship Bridge passing the Bhote Koshi River and mark the Chinese - Nepalese border, from here we drive to Kodari and will finish the Immigration things. After finish the all formalities we will drive to Kathmandu.
 
Oct 26 (Day 13): Kathmandu
Free day in Kathmandu , you can do shopping or looking around. Join to the cultural show dinner in the evening.
 
Oct 27 (Day 14): Deparutre
Final departure, transfer to airport
